The #MannequinChallenge Takes Over
If you haven’t been on social media in the past few days, you may not have noticed that the #MannequinChallenge has really blown up recently. Although it’s been kicking around for well over a week in the high school and college corners of the internet, the latest viral craze has spread so far that it’s only a matter of time before the news (and your parents) start to talk about it. For those completely unfamiliar with it, the challenge involves a group of people holding various poses for several seconds while a videographer slowly moves through crowd to show the subjects looking as mannequin-like as possible.
One of the common threads through many of the videos is the soundtrack of Rae Sremmurd’s “Black Beatles.” The hip-hop duo joined the craze over the weekend, as they froze their live performance (as well as everyone in the audience) during the intro to the song before showing everyone going wild as soon as it kicked in.
