'Solar Opposites' is set to debut in 2020

Justin Roiland, the co-creator and voice star of Rick and Morty, has been given the green light to make a new show, Solar Opposites.

Roiland, who co-created Rick and Morty with Dan Harmon in 2013, has signed a deal with Hulu to make the series, which is expected to debut in 2020.

Created with Mike McMahan – who also works on Rick and Morty – Solar Opposites has been picked up for a two-season order, with each season comprising of 16 episodes. The animated comedy will follow the story of “a family of aliens [who] move to middle America, where they debate whether life is better there or on their home planet”.

As with Rick and Morty, Roiland will voice two primary roles – Terry and Korvo – on Solar Opposites. Joining Roiland on the cast are Mary Mack and Sean Giambrone, who will voice the characters Jesse and Yumyulack respectively.

Roiland will also co-write and executively produce the new show – which will be the first original animated series to be made by Hulu’s studios – with McMahan.

Last month, a Rick and Morty soundtrack album was officially announced.

Set to be released on Sub Pop next month, the LP will feature compositions by the show’s composer Ryan Elder, fan favorites such as ‘Get Schwifty’, and new songs from the likes of clipping. and Chad VanGaalen.
