“I want it to bang and make your trunk rattle"

Solange has announced that she will be releasing a new album imminently.

Whilst the singer didn’t give a precise release date for her second album, the follow up to 2016’s ‘A Seat at the Table‘, she told T: The New York Times Style Magazine, that the album is “likely [to] arrive into the world fully formed at some mysterious and unexpected moment.”

However, journalist Ayana Mathis who conducted the interview was more specific, telling readers to  expect the release “this fall, probably sometime soon.”

Speaking about the style of her new album, Solange said “there is a lot of jazz at the core…but with electronic and hip-hop drum and bass because I want it to bang and make your trunk rattle.”

Solange confirmed earlier this year that she was working on new music  and that she was also working with The Internet‘s Steve Lacy.

Meanwhile, fans have been reacting to the news on social media:

The star released her acclaimed third album ‘A Seat At The Table’ in 2016. In a four-star review, NME described the record as “deeply personal and thrillingly intimate throughout”.

The as yet untitled album was recorded in various locations including New Orleans, Jamaica and California’s Topanga Canyon.

Reviewing Solange’s gig at Latitude earlier this year, NME wrote: “Solange delivered a 50-minute set of modernist soul and R&B, retro bubblegum pop and heartfelt balladry…[with a] show-stealing dance routine.”
