From classic party jams, to a few songs whose popularity, in retrospect, may make you cringe, this was the ‘00s.
Outkast – Hey Ya!
Weeks at #1: 9 weeks
Years: 2003-2004
The Outkast song that many longtime Outkast song fans hated, but an entire generation of pop fans fell in love with, “Hey Ya!” ended up the most popular Outkast song of all-time. This stings a bit for those of us who loved when the ATLiens were all about their Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik, but go ahead and shake it like a Polaroid picture.
Mario – Let Me Love You
Weeks at #1: 9
Year: 2005
We remembered this song as being popular, but nine weeks at number one?!?! We had no idea!
Mario’s had a far better career than most give him credit for, and while songs like “Just A Friend 2002,” and “Braid My Hair,” may have more staying power in our memories, “Let Me Love You” was a bonafide mega-hit.
