Bella Tries to Make Things Right

Unlike her counterparts hiding behind nude selfies as a distraction, Bella Hadid broke her silence, opting to be the bigger person and issue an apology for her role in the sensational disaster that was supposed to be “the new Coachella,” aka Fyre Festival.

The supermodel — who took part in a series of oceanside photoshoots and advertisements last winter alongside Kendall Jenner, Elsa Hosk, Emily Ratajkowski, Lais Ribeiro, Hailey Baldwin and more — promoted the group’s Bahamian getaway on her social media pages, using her influence to popularize the event and help sell tickets. Unfortunately, as people arrived to Exuma over the weekend it was revealed what those $450 to $250,000 tickets actually got them: limited access to food and water, disaster-relief tents and no music.

Hadid’s apology came shortly after Fyre Festival’s co-founder, rapper Ja Rule, issued his own. The recording artist and his partner, 25-year-old Billy McFarland, admitted that they had bitten off more than they could chew. The storm-battered islands were left desolate and the inexperienced organizers hadn’t given themselves enough time to prepare for the event itself, let alone destruction from inclement weather. Headliners Blink 182, Major Lazer and Migos all pulled out of the show’s lineup last minute, citing a lack of necessities needed in order to feel safe and perform properly. In an effort to make amends, Fyre is promising full refunds and free passes to next year’s attempt, which will be held stateside in order to better manage things.
