"A masterpiece surrounded by others"

To honor the album’s track of the same name, a fan has gone viral after hanging a copy of Lorde‘s ‘Melodrama‘ in the Louvre.

Lorde’s song ‘The Louvre’ is a highlight from NME’s Album Of The Year 2017. In tribute, one fan took their appreciation to the next level – and hung it in the prestigious gallery alongside other “masterpieces”.

After escaping security to hang the record in various locations, the antics and dedication of fan Nina Richard have since gone viral, ranking highly on Twitter moments.

“Hey Lorde , I hung Melodrama in the Louvre!,” she wrote. “A masterpiece surrounded by others – l took it on a journey through time and space, from Antiquity, passing by Renaissance, to Modern Times. (I had to do it very quickly cause security started to watch me and hunt down on me).”

“It was difficult in that the nature of the material and how difficult a lot of the emotional stuff was, it just made it come very slowly,” Lorde told NME about how heartbreak influenced the writing of ‘Melodrama‘. “I’d just be putting in the hours and just bleeding, like, a couple of sentences, or a pre-chorus, or a drum sound in a day. But did I ever think that I didn’t want to be honest on it? No! And I didn’t even think of it until I played it in front of a couple of the parties concerned, and I was like “ah yeah, that’s right, I really snipped that memory from out between us and stapled it into the song” – which I think is nice.

“It’s something that I’m now going to do forever, and will probably only get more incisive and more authentic.”

Lorde will return to the UK on Saturday May 26 to perform at All Points East Festival in Victoria Lark, London – alongside The xx, Sampha, Lykke Li and many more. Tickets are available here.
