The iconic television actress passed away after being hospitalized in Connecticut.

Just 25 days into 2017, and we're saying goodbye to another iconic celebrity. Mary Tyler Moore died today (January 25) after being hospitalized in grave condition. She had just turned 80 on December 29, 2016.

“Mary Tyler Moore passed away at the age of 80 in the company of friends and her loving husband of over 33 years, Dr. S. Robert Levine. A groundbreaking actress, producer, and passionate advocate for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, Mary will be remembered as a fearless visionary who turned the world on with her smile,” said a statement from her publicist Mara Buxbaum.

Rising to fame in the '60s on The Dick Van Dyke Show and securing icon status with her '70s hit The Mary Tyler Moore Show, the actress was always an advocate for women's rights and influenced many women after her, including Oprah Winfrey.

“I think Mary Tyler Moore has probably had more influence on my career than any other single person or force,” Winfrey said in a recent PBS documentary celebrating the actress.

RIP Mary Tyler Moore, your smile will never be forgotten.
