Nick Jonas, Temper Trap, Esme Patterson and more coming at you this week.

This week's set of releases all carry the idea of introspection. Nick Jonas uses his experiences from a public breakup to full the music on his new record while Alexis Taylor goes for a full unplugged set of recordings on his solo effort. Then The Temper Trap try to get back to their roots with their third album, and Kongos make efforts towards recreating the success of their debut album. Then there's Esme, who proves that going solo wasn't the worst decision after all.

Here are the Top 5 New Album Releases of the Week.

'Last Year Was Complicated' - Nick Jonas

Nick Jonas' 2014 self-titled album not only proved that he's graduated beyond the bubblegum pop Disney world we initially knew him for. Nick's officially grown up. And while he was singing about what it was like being in a relationship with his then girlfriend, Olivia Culpo, Nick is undoubtedly singing a different tune on his latest effort, Last Year Was Complicated. While still venturing into the R&B realm, Nick is definitely playing with more retro electronic beats, which you can hear in "Champagne Problems" as well "Close." Speaking of the album's lead single, "Close" is a strong showing of not only his growth as an artist but also Nick's fearlessness when it comes to showing his vulnerability. And let's not forget the fact that, Tove Lo is on the track, which adds a little something extra special to it. This continues with his heart-wrenching tune, "Chainsaw." He does a great job painting a picture of all the things we all would want to break after our hearts have been broken. However there is a bit of a silver lining on "Bacon," where he teams up with Ty Dolla $ign and sings about a new casual fling he's got with someone. And while we don't want to envision Nick as a player, he's gotta have a little fun, too, right?

'Thick as Thieves' - Temper Trap

When Temper Trap's 2009 single, "Sweet Disposition," followed by their debut album, Conditions, released, the alt-rock band went from working their 9-5s to touring around the world. While their second album self-titled album garnered some success in 2012, they hope to pick up that pace again with their latest effort, Thick as Thieves. Despite a change in the band's makeup, the essence of their sound is still ever present. With Dougy Mandagi effortless vocals and the addition of more guitars into their repertoire, the epic and anthemic feel you get from The Temper Trap's music is apparent throughout. From the moment you play the title track, you're mood is instantly lifted. The momentum continues with "Burn," their single, "Fall Together," "Ordinary World" and "On the Run." Apparently the band approached this album in the same way as their first record years ago -- by touring more to get more inspiration to make music. It's clear that The Temper Trap are refreshed and ready to take on the stage. And with a packed stour schedule in the U.S. this summer and fall, they'll be able to show everyone how ready they are to get back to music.

'We Were Wild' - Esme Patterson

The idea of finding oneself can sound cheesy or a waste of time to some. However when done with the same eloquence and grace as Esme Patterson does on her latest album, We Were Wild, you, too, will have the urge to look at your own life and sort it out. From parting ways with her longtime band, Paper Bird, to leaving the home she called home as a child, Esme channels those uneasy feelings into songs like "No River" and "The Waves." On "Wantin Ain't Gettin," she becomes more at peace with herself striking a balance. But even though you feel like she's found all her answers, you hear "Alone" -- a song that explores the idea of being in a crowded room but still feel like you're the only one there. We Were Wild is possibly her most revealing piece of work. Bbut in all its revelations about mistakes and insecurities, there stems beauty -- making it this her best music yet.

'Egomaniac' - KONGOS

After finding immense success over the re-release of their last album, Lunatic, in 2013, Kongos only hope to make it happen again. And their new album, Egomaniac, has a good chance of doing very well. The rock band starts strong with "Take It From Me" to open the song. From the marching tempo and vocal hooks, the song is filled with lots of grit with a smooth delivery. The band of South African-born, American brothers stay true to the title of the record by exploring the different ways human beings become egomaniacs. From the man who believes that everything should done his way in "The World Would Run Better" to the guy who wants to influence a bunch of teens in "Where I Belong," each song focuses on a self-centered individual, which gives this record quite the thought-provoking twist. While the album as a whole is solid, "Autocorrect" is a clear winner. With everyone so immersed in the digital world, the lyrics on this song will make you consider unplugging yourself from your phone and possibly shutting down a social media app or two.

'Piano' - Alexis Taylor

Hot Chip are known for their dance party vibes and eclectic and quirky tunes. However the band's frontman Alexis Taylor has decided to strip things down and go for nothing more than his vocals and the ivory keys. Appropriately named Piano, we immediately see, and of course, hear another side of the musician. While the tracklist is filled with original tunes as well as new renditions of old or unheard songs, the sonic theme is seamless throughout. From the little quivers in his voice on tracks like "In the Light of the Room" and the album opener "I'm Ready" to the beautifully crafted melodies in songs like "Lonely Vagabond," Alexis doesn't hold back on his softer and more emotional side. And if you're looking for one to make you grab that box of Kleenex, you'll need to listen to "Crying in the Chapel," which was originally sung by Elvis Presley. Alexis says that he was able to go to a special place with this album, and we're only happy that he's taking us along for that ride.
