This would be the first time a 'Wolverine' film isn't rated PG-13.
Throughout its 15-year run, 20th Century Fox's Wolverine franchise has been rated PG-13. However, at the 2016 Toy Fair, the studio announced that Wolverine 3 is anticipated to be rated R, according to ComicBook.com.

R-rated comic book film adaptations aren't exactly new—see 2012's Dredd—but they are rare, and the just-released Deadpool is the first with a hard R rating to be a box office success. (The Ryan Reynolds-starring film has done well, period: It earned $152.2 million during the four-day Valentine's Day/President's Day holiday, to become the seventh biggest comic book film opening and biggest R-rated opening of all time, according to The Hollywood Reporter.)
Wolverine 3 will also be the last in the franchise to star Hugh Jackman as the titular character. It premieres March 3, 2017.
