Singer/songwriter Chris Matthews undertakes a meditative journey through vast plains.

Sometimes, you just need a moment to reflect. After a string of terrible events — a relationship falling apart, the death of several relatives, even getting hit by a car — singer-songwriter Chris Matthews channeled his anguish on Songs For Silence, his debut EP under the stage name Year of Suns.

“Plain Sight,” off of the EP, is the visual and aural embodiment of this contemplative spirit. The gorgeously shot video begins with an aerial look at Matthews laying in the seemingly never-ending plains, and then follows the singer as he traverses the land in search of answers.

"'Plain Sight' was the first song written that I was easily able to think about in visual terms," says Matthews to Myspace.

"The video may have been inspired by Terrence Malik, and it seemed obvious that once the track opened up into the guitar swells it would be best to match the dream-like quality of those sounds with fragments of visuals from various places. Danny Pollack from Ataraxy Studios was able to capture these images and put them together in a way that told a narrative, while hopefully remaining open to interpretation."
