The truth is out there about Scully and Mulder's return to television.

Hey, it might actually be happening: It's been rumored for years but The X-Files revival is now on the horizon. According to TV Wise, Fox is "close" to officially green-lighting a new season of the now legendary sci-fi horror drama.

TV Wise adds that the new season will be less than 10 episodes but stresses that talks about the show's return are still on-going.

Another obstacle? Both Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny are currently wrapped up with other previous commitments—Anderson stars in BBC's (awesome) drama The Fall, while Duchovny's new series Aquarius is premiering this May on NBC.

Meanwhile, Fox has indeed confirmed that it's looking at a reboot with original series creator Chris Carter reportedly involved.

The X-Files originally aired from 1993 through 2002 on Fox, racking up nine successful seasons, 202 episodes, two movies and a comic book series.
