Long a regarded techno producer through his associations with Dan Curtin and Morgan Geist, Titonton Duvante began coming into his own during 1998-99 with the single "Endorphin" and his first full-length, Voyeurism, both superb fusions of electro, synthesized jazz and highly melodic techno.
From Columbus, Ohio, Duvante was classically trained but also listened to Detroit techno and later, drum'n'bass. He debuted on record with the "Embryonic" single for Dan Curtin's Cleveland-based Metamorphic label, and also contributed to the "Titonton & Morgan" single co-released by Geist's Environ label and Phono UK. Duvante also formed part of the ele_mental collective and the 21/22 Corporation label, which released material from Charles Noel (as Monochrome) and Todd Sines (as Cron) plus the respected Trace Elements compilation series. He also recorded for Multiplex, SSR and his own Residual label, recruiting John Tejada, Boo Williams and Todd Sines to record for it as well. His debut full-length Voyeurism appeared on the StarBaBy label in 1999, and the provocative Selections for Intercourse followed a year later on Residual. Duvante is also an excellent DJ (with a series of Double Edged mixtapes), known to dip into drum'n'bass as well as classic techno and electro. ~ John Bush
