Ralph Myerz was once known as DJ Erlend Sellevold, a Scandanavian turntablist that started making a name for himself in Bergen, Norway.
Building a popular set in the late 90's, he asked friends Thomas Lonnheim and Tarjei Strom to join him on percussion and found that audiences went nuts for the sound. Already adopting the tag of Ralph Myerz due to his fascination with exploitation filmmaker Russ Meyer, Lonnheim and Strom took the name of the Jack Herren Band (Meyer's cameraman) and they released their first 12", "A Special Morning." The next year, "Nikita" became a huge underground 7" and convinced them to put together a compilation of their work for Emperor Norton Records. While "Nikita" became a Volkswagen commercial, Myerz and crew released A Special EP, which included their first two singles as well as the new "Clouds" and "Menage a Trois." ~ Bradley Torreano
