One of the most progressive house producers and DJs of the late '90s, 2000s, and 2010s, Theo Parrish grew up in Chicago but moved to Detroit by the time of his late-1996 Baby Steps EP on 7th City subsidiary Elevate.
From the EP, his Chicago tribute "Lake Shore Drive" later appeared on the Kenny Dixon/Moodymann release "Inspirations of a Small Black Church," and Parrish also worked on tracks by Rick Wilhite, Dewayne Davis and Norma Jean Bell. In 1997, he established his Sound Signature label, the outlet for the majority of his prolific output, including the albums Parallel Dimensions (2000), the Rotating Assembly's Natural Aspirations (2004), and Sound Sculptures, Vol. 1 (2007). Also a renowned DJ, he has released several mixes on the CD-R format. In 2013, the Snowdog label sought him for Black Jazz Signature, a mix of cuts from one of the most significant independent jazz labels of the '70s. ~ John Bush
