Squarely in the same C-86-loving genre but drawing from a slightly different pack of influences (Guided by Voices and the Clean chief among them), Miller's pet recording project took a backseat to the Manhattan Love Suicides, who became something of a sensation following the release of their self-titled debut album in 2006. In 2008, with the help of Matthew Leach and Manhattan Love Suicides' drummer Eddy Lines, Miller recorded what would become the Medusa Snare's debut full-length album. When the Manhattan Love Suicides amicably split the following year, Miller focused his energies on the Medusa Snare. Rachel Barker (also of the Manhattan Love Suicides) was brought on board as the fledgling band's new drummer (Lines had his sights on another project, Downdime), Daniel Morris became the group's bassist, and guitarist John Perry was brought into the fold to round out the group's sound. The Medusa Snare's debut full-length, Cinderella, was released on Squirrel Records in the fall of 2009. Over the next two years, the Medusa Snare recorded some new songs, including a Tullycraft cover, included on the Tullycraft tribute album Wish I'd Kept a Scrapbook. ~ Margaret Reges
