The Mayfair Set are a collaboration between the enigmatic Brooklyn-based noise pop project Blank Dogs and the Dum Dum Girls' mastermind Dee Dee.
The duo's sound proved itself to be a mash-up of the two projects. The Mayfair Set's debut single, Already Warm (released on the Brooklyn-based label Captured Tracks), revealed a swollen, monstrous, distortion-riddled sound that combined the drowsy sweetness of the Dum Dum Girls with the Blank Dogs' distortion-slicked spookiness -- in other words, their sound gave a heavy nod to the Young Marble Giants, Dolly Mixture, and Black Tambourine. The Mayfair Set's debut EP, Young One, was slated for release on Troubleman Records in 2009. ~ Margaret Reges
