The Drifters are a Swedish dansband with a long history dating back to the 1960s that broke through to mainstream success in 2008 with the Top Five hit album Tycker Om Dig.
Founded in 1962, the band underwent numerous lineup changes over the years and was originally all-male before later featuring female lead singers. While the mid-'90s lineup featuring lead singer Marie Arturén had some success with albums such as Nästa Gång Det Blir Sommar (1994), the Drifters took their success to another level with the addition of lead singer Erica Sjöström in 1999. Sjöström (born on June 30, 1970) made her Drifters album debut with På Begäran (1999) and was featured on the follow-up albums Om Du Vill Ha Mig (2002), Det Har Jag Ångrat Tusenfalt (2004), Kärleken År Inget Spel (2006), and Ett Liv Med Dig (2007). The latter album was the band's most successful to date, reaching number 31 on the Swedish albums chart, and it set the stage for the Drifters' mainstream breakthrough the following year with Tycker Om Dig: Svängiga Låtar Från Förr (2008), which was a smash hit, going all the way to number two on the albums chart. ~ Jason Birchmeier
