San Francisco-born Tiffany Garrett Sotomayor got her start as the drummer for the Vancouver, Canada indie rock group Bella.
They released two records (2004's Pretty Mess on Hideout, 2007's No One Will Know on Mint), then split up. Tiffany moved to Barcelona, Spain and resurfaced under the name That Girl with Dark Eyes in 2011 with a sound inspired by dance music, and Prince in particular. After a year of writing and making demos, she won a radio-sponsored contest and earned a slot at the SOS4.8 festival in Murcia, then co-headlined Sala Razzmatazz alongside Skrillex and toured with CSS. She also stayed busy doing remixes for Imperial Teen and Architecture in Helsinki, among others, while recording her debut EP, which is set to be released this year. ~ Tim Sendra
