Colorado's Tarantella is the brainchild of Kal Cahoone, the lead singer and songwriter, who grew up in California and Colorado but also lived in Chile and Argentina.
Upon returning to Colorado, she began combining her influences and writing songs but had never been a singer or performer. She slipped a tape to John Rumley of Slim Cessna's Auto Club (who she didn't know personally at all), and soon thereafter Tarantella was born. Soon, they added violinist Kelly O'Dea and recruited the rhythm section from Slim Cessna's Auto Club (Dan Jon Grandbois and Ordy Garrison, who was replaced by drummer Chad Johnson). Rounding out the group is guitarist Bob Ferbrache, who had previously worked with 16 Horsepower. Their debut, Tarantella de la Morte, arrived in late 2005 on the venerated Alternative Tentacles label. ~ Sean Westergaard
