As the guitarist and vocalist for Sheffield's Comsat Angels, Stephen Fellows became a bit of a cult hero, known well for his arpeggiated style of guitar playing and skilled songwriting.
After the Comsats broke up in the mid-'90s, he released a collection of ambient guitar drones on English Electric, entitled Mood X. Though Fellows and his mates were put through more than their fair share of legal hassles, label issues, and somewhat indifferent press during their 16-year existence, he couldn't help but jump back into the business side of the industry upon hearing a demo by a group of young scruffs. Later naming themselves Gomez, Fellows became their manager, even lending occasional guitar in the studio. Being around the boys refueled his creative drive, and by late 2000, Fellows had returned to working on rock-based material that he had been playing around with for several years, hoping to release a second solo album in the near future. ~ Andy Kellman
