British reggae singer/songwriter Starkey Banton (born David Murray) has helped spark a return to the "truth and rights" themes of early reggae.
Making his mark with a series of impressive singles, including "I Love King Selassie," "Weeping & Wailing/Rastaman Chant," "I Saw Dem Coming," and the U.K. reggae hit "Jungle Bungle." Banton released his first album, Powers Youth, in 1997. His second album, Rasta Mystic, released in 2000, was a collaboration with influential British dub producer the Mad Professor. ~ Craig Harris
