This incredible album project spearheaded by Dame Shirley Bassey sees her working with songwriting partners Catherine Feeney and Nikki Lamborn, who co-wrote the beautiful Bassey neo-classic The Living Tree and produced title track Get The Party Started. Catherine and Nikki make up London-based band, Never The Bride who originally approached the Dame about the possibility of recording The Living Tree last summer. The duo had recorded their version of the song, but convinced Dame Shirley it was right for her during a trip to Monte Carlo (where the legendary singer now lives). A chance encounter with the Dame in the gym of a 5 star hotel in the city led to Dame Shirley Bassey hearing and falling in love with the song and agreeing to record it.

Catherine Feeney of Never the Bride who co-wrote The Living Tree with Nikki Lamborn said: “Recording The Living Tree with Dame Shirley was a day to remember. She arrived at the studio, complete with a jar of honey to sooth her throat after a performance the night before, an IPod for her vocal warm up exercises and of course her wonderful voice, what a Dame! We’re honoured to be working with this truly unique artist who has inspired generations”.

2007 really is Dame Shirley Bassey’s year who will enjoy the ultimate birthday celebration this year by performing songs from Get the Party Started aswell as her own classic songs to more than 150,000 people at this summer’s prestigious Glastonbury Festival.

In a career spanning more than 50 years, Dame Shirley Bassey has sold millions of records worldwide and has spent more weeks in the charts than any other British female recording artist. Her previous hits include classics such as I Who Have Nothing, Big Spender, Something, Light My Fire and History Repeating, as well as the unforgettable Bond themes Goldfinger and Diamonds Are Forever.
