Inspired by '80s British dark rock, Murcia's Sean Frutos (vocals) and Jorge Guirao (guitar) formed Second in 1997.
After the usual round of local gigs and successful appearances in music contests, the group published its debut album, Private Life, in 2000, and added bassist Nando Robles. Second's lineup would be completed with Fran Guirao (drums) and Javi Vox (guitar), who joined for the band's sophomore effort, Pose. Second's turning point came in 2004, when the band triumphed at London's Global Battle of the Bands. Their popularity in the Spanish indie scene kept on growing, especially after they started to sing in Spanish for 2006's Invisible, and scored a hit with the 2009 single "Rincón Exquisito." Second are widely admired for their intense performances, as captured in their 2012 live album, 15. ~ Mariano Prunes
