Although he's employed a number of sidemen over the years, Nachtmystium is essentially the work of Chicago native Blake Judd (aka Azentrius), who began recording demos in 1998.
The band was also home to members of Nile, Goatwhore, Dimmu Borgir, Usurper, Vital Remains, Forest of Impaled, Novembers Doom, and many other notable extreme metal musicians. Over time, Nachtmystium's sound evolved from raw, traditional black metal to experimental, neo-progressive dark metal -- all while retaining its esoteric, malevolent edge. Until their disbanding in 2014, they produced at least one EP or LP each year. Full-length studio albums include Reign of the Malicious (2002), Demise (2004), Instinct:Decay (2006), Assassins: Black Meddle, Pt. 1 (2008), Addicts: Black Meddle, Pt. 2 (2010), Silencing Machine (2012), and The World We Left Behind (2014). ~ Eduardo Rivadavia
