Mux Mool is an IDM producer associated with the Moodgadget and Ghostly labels who made his commercial recording debut in 2006.
Born Brian Lindgren, he grew up in rural Minnesota and later relocated to Brooklyn, New York, where he befriended Jakub Marek Alexander of the electronic music label Moodgadget. Mool made his recording debut in 2006 with the track "Lost and Found" on the Moodgadget various-artists compilation The Rorschach Suite. In 2008 he released two EPs on Moodgadget, Drum EP and Death 9000, and was featured on the label compilations No New Enemies, Vol. 1 and The Synchronicity Suite. Also in 2008, his track "Night Court" was featured on the Adult Swim-sponsored free-download Ghostly Swim compilation released by Ghostly International. "Night Court" increased his exposure considerably, and he began garnering positive write-ups in mainstream electronic music publications such as XLR8R and URB, not to mention the blogosphere, where MP3s of his music circulated freely. In 2009 Mool released another EP on Moodgadget, Just Saying Is All. The following year saw a spate of releases on Ghostly: "Lady Linda" (digital single, January), Viking Funeral (digital EP, February), Skulltaste (full-length, March), and Wax Rose Saturday (digital collection of remixes, August). Drum EP 2 was issued in 2011, followed by Mool's second full-length, Planet High School, in 2012. ~ Jason Birchmeier
