Chilean Latin rock foursome los Tetas made their debut with the release of Mama Funk in 1995, climbing on local rock charts with "Corazón de Sandía" and "Hormigas Blancas." The band, mostly influenced by 1970s modern funk, started touring Latin America after releasing an EP called Cha Cha Cha.
They played in Argentina in 1997 along with hardcore rap act Illya Kuryaki and the Valderramas, issuing La Medicina that same year. In 1999, los Tetas moved to the U.S. to make Independiente, followed by 2000's Independiente Edición ll and Latin Funk All Stars, a greatest hits album released by EMI. ~ Drago Bonacich
