Roots-pop duo Kennedy Rose teamed Nashville-based singers/songwriters Mary Ann Kennedy and Pam Rose, who first joined forces in 1981 in the group Calamity Jane.
Already sought-after session vocalists, the twosome also earned renown for their songwriting skills before returning to performing as Kennedy Rose; signing to the IRS label, they issued Hai Ku in 1989, followed five years later by Walk the Line. Neither record made much commercial impact, but Kennedy and Rose nevertheless emerged as one of contemporary country's most successful writing teams, authoring a series of hits including Martina McBride's "Safe in the Arms of Love," Restless Heart's "I'll Still Be Loving You," Patty Loveless' "You Will," and Lee Greenwood's "Ring on Her Finger, Time on Her Hands" and "Dixie Road." ~ Jason Ankeny
