Huntress is a heavy metal band based in Highland Park, California fronted by operatically trained vocalist and founding member Jill "Tuesdae" Janus, who hails from upstate New York.
After moving west, Janus began DJ'ing and hosting club parties as DJ Tuesdae in L.A. She also fronted the all-female cover band Chelsea Girls and played acoustic gigs with Dave Navarro.

In 2009 she joined forces with guitarists Blake Meahl and Ian Alden (both formerly of Trigger Renegade and Professor), bassist Eric Harris (Skeletonwitch), and drummer Carl Wierzbicky (Dark Black). Huntress released its debut EP Off with Her Head in 2010, followed by the single and video "Eight of Swords" in 2011. The quintet's debut full-length, Spell Eater, appeared on Napalm in the spring of 2012. It was followed by a global tour and the album Starbound Beast in 2013.

After a grueling tour headlining their own shows and playing festivals (including a run with Amon Amarth), Huntress entered the studio to cut their third full length. During the sessions with co-producers Paul Fig and James A. Rota, Janus began to notice something amiss with her health. When the album was finished, Huntress began a PledgeMusic pre-sale campaign in June of 2015. In July, Janus revealed that she had been diagnosed with an early form of uterine cancer. Treatment was aggressive and her prognosis positive. The recording was released as Static to the general public in September. ~ Thom Jurek
