Having spent school days“looking out of the window”, Jack Savoretti first planned to become afootballer shortly moving on to a plan to studyfilm.
This was prompted by seeing 'The Graduate' at the age of 16, and his fallingin love with its Simon & Garfunkel soundtrack. While flying out toCalifornia to begin a new life as a film student, this ambition wasdramatically thwarted. It was September 11, 2001. “I woke up on a plane halfwayacross the Atlantic with military jets outside the window and the captaintelling us the Pentagon had been hit, and the Twin Towers were no longerstanding.” Fourteen frightening hours after taking off in Zurich, he waslanding in Geneva. “My California dream came to a pretty abrupt end.” When hefinally made it to Los Angeles, he fell in love with the city and its music.Encouraged by his mother, who had hung out with Hendrix and the Stones as amodel, he picked up a guitar and began to write tunes for the poetry he hadwritten at school.

The outcome was 'BetweenThe Minds', a debut album that showcased Jack’s voice and knack for a catchytune. Radio 2 loved it naming it their album of the week and soon after he wasinvited to tour Europe with Corinne Bailey Rae, culminating in a gig in frontof 9,000 fans at Hammersmith Apollo. His ownheadline tour ensued and he then became the first artist to do a tour of CaffeNero branches, busking acoustically at 60 of them in just 30 days.

While Jack’s songs beganto receive heavy support from US TV series One Tree Hill and Grey’s Anatomy, his second album Harder Than Easy failed to receive the support from his recordlabel it deserved. He left his label and management, and became thoroughlydisillusioned with the music biz at the age of 27. “I was seriously thinkingabout giving it all up,” he admits. He had just gotten married, had a kid onthe way, and hadn't written a song in months. Then, contemplating his next movein the summer of 2011, a song came into his head. “I was thinking my career wasover before it had really begun. Then this song came along and made me realiseI wanted to make another album.”

That song, 'Knock Knock,'is one of the 13 songs that make up 'Before the Storm.' This, Jack's thirdalbum was recorded in just four days at KensalTown Studios and produced by TheSuppliers, the Scandinavian collective behind a host of hits for artistsincluding James Morrison and Jason Mraz. The album reached No. 1 in the UKIndie Breakers chart and he continues to tour the UK, supporting the likes ofJools Holland and Bruce Springsteen and Europe with Jake Bugg. Meanwhile, ‘Hate& Love’ a track he recorded with actress Sienna Miller was broadcast on USTV show Vampire Diaries.
