With a decidedly musical pedigree (her father, Erwin Gutawa was a composer and musician, and her mother, Lulu Gutawa was a songwriter) Gita Gutawa was pretty much destined to be a pop/rock vocal sensation -- of some sort -- in her native Indonesia.
Born Aluna Sagita Gutawa in Jakarta on August 11, 1993, Gita Gutawa got her first taste of rock success after her appearance on the Ada Band track "Yang Terbaik Bagimu." In 2007, Gutawa released her first album, Gita Gutawa, and two of its singles, "Kembang Perawan" and "Bukan Permainan" were hits, the latter reaching the top spot on the charts. In addition, her debut was notable for a duet with Indonesian Idol runner up Delon on the track "Your Love." ~ Chris True
