Owner of one of the most peculiar voices in the Latin rap scene, Fermin IV began getting involved in hip-hop music after listening to American rap groups from the 1980s.
In 1994, his first band, called Prófuga de Metate, debuted with an independently produced demo. A year later, ex-Pasto Pato and ex-La Ultima de Lucas' keyboardist Toy joined him to assemble Control Machete. Soon, the Mexican threesome became a worldwide top-selling Latin rap outfit with two chart-topping albums, 1997's Mucho Barato and 1999's Artilleria Pesada Presenta.

After moving from Monterrey to Cuernavaca, Morelos Fermin IV started working on his first solo album. In February 2001, Universal Music Mexico signed him up to release Boomerang, including "004," featured on the XXX movie soundtrack. ~ Drago Bonacich
