A Memphis native who stood next to Macklemore, Danny Brown, and Future for XXL Magazine's 2012 Freshman Class, rapper Don Trip was first a rap fan, following hip-hop from the teen-pop phenomenons Kriss Kross to the breakthrough of the much rougher Three 6 Mafia and the streetwise, Memphis-based film Hustle & Flow.
He made his debut in 2009 with the single "Letter to My Son" via Cool & Dre and their First Family imprint. Two series of mixtapes, one based on the Human Torch and one based on the Terminator, brought Trip to 2011, when he joined Starlito on the collaborative album Step Brothers. Step Brothers Two landed in 2013, then Trip went solo in 2015 with the album Godspeed. ~ David Jeffries
