Starting out as something Simon Rex was doing for fun in the comforts of his home and sharing with a few close friends in-between acting gigs, “DIRT NASTY” has evolved into a mainstream part of today’s pop culture.
Sometime around 2005, Dirt Nasty popped on the scene as a member of his three-man group “Dyslexic Speedreaders” (which also included Mickey Avalon and Andre Legacy). Dirt produced and was featured on the groups cult hit “My Dick”which has since gone on to sell over 770,000 downloads, and has been licensed in numerous film and TV shows.

Dirt Nasty self-released his debut album in 2008 via IODA,which featured the hit song “1980.” Thats ong has gone on to sell over 75,000 individual downloads and has been streamed more than 10 million times on YouTube alone.

In 2009, Dirt recorded “What Do You Say” for the blockbuster film “The Hangover.” That song has since gone on to sell over 350,000 downloads.

2010 saw Dirt return with his second solo release, “Nasty AsI Wanna Be”, that featured the likes of Ke$ha, LMFAO, Too Short, Warren G and others. The song and video for “I Can’t Dance” saw spins and support from radio and television networks such as FUSE and MTV (which Simon was a VJ on).

Most recently, Dirt teamed up with super-producer Diplo and his friends, Riff Raff and Andy Milonakis, to form the group “Three Loco.” November of 2012 saw the release of their 8-song album on Diplo’s own Mad Decent record label. The album garnished the group critical acclaim from the likes of MTV, Pitchfork, Vice Magazine and Perez Hilton just to name a few.

August 20th marks the release of Dirt Nasty’s new 13-track record entitled “Palatial” and finds Simon continuing to do what he does best…let you have a laugh, but not be a joke. Sharp, well-crafted, witty, tongue and cheek lyrics, along with top-notch production that can rival any new hip-hop record, keep the sound current and the fanbase and demographics broad. Through Dirt’s massive social media following, constant touring and lead roles in major motion pictures (2013’s Scary Movie 5 alongside Ashley Tisdale), Simon (or Dirt Nasty for that matter) is truly a modern artist for this generation of consumers.
