Hailing from Los Angeles, The Devics arrived on the rock scene in the early 1990s with their own label, Splinter Records. In 1996, the band self-released their debut album, Buxom; two years later, If You Forget Me appeared. By the new millennium, The Devics derived an atmospheric, goth-like sound. The Ghost in the Girl EP showcased the band's music growth and Bella Union was impressed. The Devics inked a deal with Bella Union and issued My Beautiful Sinking Ship in 2001. Shows with Lift to Experience, Thalia Zedek, and Elysian Fields followed throughout 2002. ~ MacKenzie Wilson
