Russian DJ and producer Dasha Rush (born Dasha P. Van Celst) has carved out her own space in the international techno scene, releasing the majority of her recordings on her own labels, Fullpanda Records and Hunger to Create.
Constantly touring across the globe, her busy performance schedule has included DJ sets at packed clubs and festivals as well as experimental concerts at galleries and theaters. Similarly, her fearlessly experimental recordings range from minimal techno to downtempo, glitch, and ambient. Following her first two 12" EPs, Untitled Hunger (2004) and Fullpanda (2005), she released her debut full-length Forms Ain't Formats in early 2006. Several more 12"s followed, and her second album, I Run Iron I Run Ironic, appeared in 2009. The album was considerably more experimental than her previous releases, partially diverging from the dancefloor and consisting of sparser, more abstract pieces featuring her own vocals. Early supporter Adam X invited Rush to release music on his Sonic Groove label, resulting in the EPs Sonic State (2010) and Relativismi (2011). Following 2013's Interception of Arts (on Fullpanda) and 2014's Timid Ocean Drawings (on Deep Sound Channel), Rush moved to Raster-Noton for her most ambitious full-length yet, Sleepstep: Sonar Poems for My Sleepless Friends. ~ Paul Simpson
