L.A.-basedsinger/songwriter Colette Carr’s new release represents a radical reboot, witha more vulnerable, emotionally naked honesty that touches on frustrating relationships(“Moments in Love,” “Walking in Place”) before hitting bottom with aTequila-fueled, self-loathing hangover (“3%”), an evolving sound she describesas “an indie Europop, dance-floor feel.

A childhood tennisstar whose back problems led to an interest in music, drawing and painting,Colette started listening to The Cure and The Smiths before discovering classicrock like Led Zeppelin and Jimi Hendrix, with favorites including Gwen Stefani,Talking Heads, Suzanne Vega and Deborah Harry before gravitating to rapperslike Eminem, Wu-Tang Clan and Snoop Dogg. A budding rapper herself, a teenageCarr was urged by her sister during a concert at UCLA featuring The Game tojump on-stage and freestyle herself.

A self-producedvideo, “Back It Up,” went to #1 at mtvU, which attracted the attention of NickCannon, who helped Colette release her debut mixtape, “Sex Sells Stay Tooned,”through his NCredible Entertainment label. Interscope boss Jimmy Iovine then signed Colette and sent her to the recording studio for her debut album, The Skitszo Collection, which produced the Billboard Dance hit, “Never Gonna Happen” and the Billboard Uncharted topper, “(We Do It)Primo,” working with producers such as RedOne (Lady Gaga).

Taking what shelearned at the label, Colette has now set out to make it on her own. Working with FrankMusik in his small studio,Carr confronted all those insecurities and vulnerabilities in her music.

Colette has already road-tested some ofthe new material while playing on iHeartRadio’s recent “On the Rise” tour. She’s currently rehearsing the songs with a full band, ready to bring the newmusic to her fans, making sure they know the motivation behind her everycreative move. More than just her musicand art, Colette’s life, is dedicated to “helping and inspiring people to becomfortable and confident with who they are. I’m not afraid to let everyone see my flaws. I’d love to see this music inspire people.”
