CHERINE is a dynamic Jamaican singer/songwriter, DJ (Jamaican rapper), producer and actress.
She has honed her performance skills both as a support and opening act for the legendary Sly & Robbie, alternative bands like Michael Franti & Spearhead with John Mayer, Counting Crows to name a few. She is set to release her much anticipated debut album in 2014.

BIOGRAPHY:

In our modern day parade of glamour, glitz and unmerited superstardom, Cherine has taken todays road less traveled; the path of paying dues, cultivating her abilities and developing her signature Dancehall Soul sound; a mixture of reggae, dancehall, soul and r&b. Cherine has become one of Jamaicas leading young female singer/songwriters and performers. Her genre defying grooves coupled with her powerful voice and thought provoking lyrics has brought her in front of well over 1,000,000 live audience fans. With a growing army of supporters, who she affectionately calls her dancehall-SOULdiers, she has had the privilege of steadily touring in places such as Jamaica, Europe, Canada, Australia and the USA.

Cherines infectious and passionate live performances helped place her on arena tours and renown festivals worldwide as both an opening and support act for alternative bands like Michael Franti & Spearhead, International rock star John Mayer, Counting Crows to name a few. She has also toured with, and is endorsed by legendary drummer Sly Dunbar ( Sly & Robbie) who hails her as the real deal. A truly strong vocalist on hardcore riddims with the ability and potential to surpass reggae audiences to reach the masses.

The east Kingston bred native is a constant and consistent positive representative of Jamaica; from penning and directing chart topping videos for her inspirational songs such as How We Living, Kingston State of Mind and Shine On Jamaica, to a stand out performance at the Inaugural Green Ball and Peace Ball during Barack Obamas Presidential Inauguration, high energy performance at the World Games Special Olympics to reaching the Billboard charts. Cherine has made numerous appearances on television programs in Jamaica, Norway, France, Australia and the United States including The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson and The Ellen DeGeneres Show and twice appeared on the award winning local show Profile with Ian Boyne.

Cherine is the first Jamaican female artist to hit the Billboard Rock Charts featured on the song Say Hey, I Love You with Michael Franti & Spearhead. The song simultaneously peaked six Billboard charts and was placed on the soundtrack of numerous films and TV commercials including the EA 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa Music Soundtrack. She dominated both local and international reggae charts with her smash hit single Shine on Jamaica from her critically acclaimed EP The Introduction-Dubstyle EP. Shine On Jamaica peaked at # 1 for four weeks on both the NY Reggae Charts and South Florida reggae charts. The EP also produced reggae hits such as Talk If Yuh Talking and Kingston State of Mind. Shine On Jamaica was also featured on the 2011 Grammy nominated album for Sly & Robbie One Pop Reggae. As a result, she was honored with the award for Best Female Vocalist of the year 2010 at the Jamaica Excellence In Music Awards as well as Female Vocalist of Year at Stone Love Awards. Cherine continues to dominate Jamaican radio and stays relevant in the dancehall with the smash hit collaboration Rebel with D.I produced by the legendary duo Sly & Robbie.

Coupled with the success of dominating dancehall and reggae charts, she was also tapped for an array of A-list projects. Cherine updated her spokesperson repertoire by agreeing to lend her star power since 2011 to Yoplait & Jamaica Cancer Society's Breast Cancer Campaign, which raised over $3.5 Million JMD to benefit cancer victims. Cherine is also aligned with the United Nations-backed Way Out Project, an initiative to end violence and endorse gender equality, which is run jointly by the UN and the Bureau of Womens Affairs. Additionally, her Reach One Child Jamaica foundation, which she founded in 2003, remains committed to providing motivational and inspiration talks as well as need based scholarships to youths in Jamaica. In the spring of 2012 Cherine and Reach One Child Jamaica embarked on the R.O.C Jamaica School Tour, with a mission to engage teens in inner-city communities in motivational talks and discussions on topics such as teen pregnancy, violence, violence against women as well as making education their priority, in order to secure a better future.

Determined to keep following her light, Cherine continues to evolve as a woman and an entertainer, ever poised for new heights. The recent formation of her official backing band, the Rockfort Rebels, speaks volumes of where shes headed musically and is but a single step in her thrust towards greater accomplishments.

She is in the final stages of completing her debut album, which is schedule to be released in 2014. Not one for hype and extravagance she has surrounded herself with a solid team who has guided her over the last few years and is ready to help her showcase her music to rest of the world.
