Brooklyn four-piece CHAPPO make driving, psychedelic, and post-punk-influenced indie rock.
Centered around Baton Rouge native lead singer/songwriter and guitarist Alex Chappo and Seattle-born keyboardist Chris Olson, the band also includes drummer Zac Colwell and guitarist Dave Feddock. Formed in Manhattan in 2007, CHAPPO released the EP Plastique Universe in 2010, followed by the Plastique Universe II: Pisces Princess EP a year later. In 2012, CHAPPO released their full-length debut album, Moonwater, on Majordomo Records. Two more EPs, Petite Plastique and Nothin' to Sell Ya (which featured covers of Beck, Caveman, Jefferson Airplane, and Kenny Rogers) followed in 2013. After multiple tours, some headlined, festival appearances, and shows supporting bands such as Royal Teeth, Big Data, and Imagine Dragons, CHAPPO signed with Votiv in late 2014. Another EP, Celebrate, was issued in December of that year. Their sophomore full-length, a freewheeling concept album involving travel through a black hole titled Future Former Self, arrived in the spring of 2015. ~ Matt Collar & Marcy Donelson
