Sydney, Australia-based metalcore band Capture the Crown formed in early 2010.
Singer Jeffrey Wellfare and guitarists Jye Menzies and Blake Ellis had played together previously in the metal band Atlanta Takes State before recruiting bassist Kris Sheehan and drummer Tyler "Lone America" March to form their new venture. The group released its debut single, "You Call That a Knife? This Is a Knife!," promoting the video through its YouTube channel and reaching five million views within a year. Three more successful singles followed in 2012 and the band traveled to the U.S. to record its debut LP, 'Til Death, at revered metal producer Cameron Mizell's Chango Studios in Florida. Capture the Crown joined the Sumerian Records roster and their album was released in late 2012. In 2013, the group released a new single called "All Hype, All Night" and embarked on its first headlining tour. Later that year, Capture the Crown parted ways with Sumerian and after crowd-funding their independent Live Life EP, they also parted ways with founding member Ellis. Early 2014 saw the eventual release of the EP after which the reshuffled lineup and hit the studio, working with producer Matt Good (From First to Last) on their second album. Reign of Terror appeared later that summer on California label Artery Recordings. ~ Timothy Monger
