The six youths of Brazeros Musical de Durango met while studying in music school.
Grupo Montéz de Durango were wildly popular among the young musicians and their peers at the time, and it occurred to them that they might be able to form such a group. Several friends got together with their instruments to improvise and jam together using computer-generated sounds to fill in the gaps. It was not long before the lineup was filled and the group began playing for parties and community dances. A local agent, Juan Loredo, took an interest and approached them about representation. Of course, being between the ages of 14 and 21, los Brazeros met with Loredo and their cautious parents before making any decisions. Only a few short months later, los Brazeros's debut CD, El Errante, was released on Terrazas Records. Public demand was so great that the record sold more than 15,000 copies in under a month. Their follow-up record, Buscando Amores, for Loredo Records, opened doors to performing stateside in duranguense's capitol city, Chicago. A warm reception there led to regular airplay and an ever-growing fan base. The duranguense audience found their youthful looks and endless energy irresistible. With a noticeable presence on the charts since 2004 and a contract with the powerful Disa label, the six young men of Brazeros Musical de Durango established a strong position for themselves even before all their members could legally drive. ~ Evan C.
