Concert pianist, composer, lecturer, pedagogue and coach K. Athanasakos has performed throughout the USA and in England, France, Holland, Germany, Switzerland, Spain, the UAE and his native Greece.
His tours have taken him to standing ovations in New York, Boston, Philadelphia, Indianapolis, Atlanta, Chicago, Washington, London, Paris, Nice, Monaco, Amsterdam, Berlin, Frankfurt, Cologne, Munich, Bonn, Zurich, Murcia, Cartagena, Alhambra, Tenerrife, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Athens, Thessaloniki and numerous Greek cities.

In recent years Mr. Athanasakos has also enjoyed the experience of performing in 'private concerts' aka concerts with membership-only entrance, corporate events and international conventions in Geneva and St.Moritz in Switzerland, Monte Carlo Monaco, Dubai and Abu Dhabi in UAE, in Sanremo Italy, Heringsdorf and Rügen in Germany and various high profile events in Berlin including the premiere opening of the Berlin Greek Film Festival with V. Leandros, concerts for foreign investors in Greek Tourism at Hyatt Hotel or honoring the visiting Greek President P.Pavlopoulos at Schloss Bellevue at the invitation of the President of Germany F.W.Steinmeier.

As a young artist in his mid 2s, Konstantinos Athanasakos had received numerous congratulatory letters from the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew of Constantinople (Istanbul), as well as from the then President of Greece Mr. K. Stephanopoulos throughout his long tenure, for being an artistic ambassador of Greece abroad.

Mr. Athanasakos has performed at the Kammermusiksaal of the Berlin Philharmonie and at Konzerthaus am Gendanmermarkt, Carnegie's Weill Hall in New York, Wigmore Hall in London, Jordan Hall in Boston, for Amnesty International, Cite des Arts in Paris, at the Harvard, Northeastern and Humboldt Universities, with Camerata Europaea, at Beethoven-Haus in Bonn, 'Great Interpreters Series' of the Spanish Ministry of Culture, Goethe Forum in Munich, Belgisches Haus in Cologne, Institute Francais, Musical Arts Center Indiana and the American College of Greece-Deree.

A resident of Berlin Germany, he has performed in both the established houses and the alternative venues including Volksbüne, Passionskirche Kreuzberg, St.Marien Kirche Spandau, Museum für Kommunikation, UFA Fabrik, Werkstadt der Kulturen, Griechische Kulturstiftung, Schwartzsche Villa, as the first recitalist to premiere the new building of the Greek Consulate in Düsseldorf, as the pianist of choice to perform the mighty 'Passacaglia' of N. Skalkottas for the Skalkottas Anniversary under the auspices of the Greek Embassy, as a champion of new music from Cyprus under the auspices of the Embassy of Cyprus or as the pianist to present concerts dedicated to A. Piazzolla in the Berlin Philharmonie under the auspices of the Embassy of Argentina and in numerous Tango Festivals.

Mr. Athanasakos earned a Masters Degree 'with academic honors' and a Postgraduate Diploma 'with distinction for outstanding achievement in performance' from the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston after completing the 4-year Bachelors Degree in 1 year while being the pianist of choice for Ben Zander's interpretation classes. He also worked with M. Pressler and F. Gulli as a Doctoral fellow at Indiana University/Bloomington on a scholarship and went on to acquire the coveted 'Artists Diploma' (or class of perfection) from Ecole Normale de Musique de Paris on full scholarship and a 'Diploma d'onore' from the Nice International Festival. His list of mentors included L.Fleisher, G.Chodos, P.Zander, R.Sherman, F.Clidat, M.J.Jude and the Borommeo Quartet. His earlier training had taken place at the Athens Conservatory from which he graduated with an Unanimously Awarded First Prize Diploma and numerous other awards.

Mr. Athanasakos is the 1st Prize Winner of the 2003 'F.Clidat Concours' in Paris, the '1999 New York Hellenic Times News Award', the '1996 Athanasiadis Foundation Award' in New York, and a scholarship recipient of the Banff Center of the Arts in Canada, the A.Onassis Foundation, the Bodosakis and Goulandris Foundations in Athens, as well as the first Greek pianist to be interviewed on Internet TV-Radio Networks in 1998. He was sponsored by Karelia Industry and the 3E Bottling Company before being presented as a 'musical genius of international standing' on a 60 minute documentary on Greek National Public Television (Kanal 3) performing Etudes and Nocturnes of F. Chopin.

His first interview was after his debut-recital at the age of 7 for Ethnos Newspaper. Since then he has been presented on Spain's National Radio Network, on RBB-Funkhaus Europa in Berlin, BR-Klassik from Munich, and on numerous newspappers including Tagesspiegel Germany, National Herald New York, La Verdad and La Opinion in Spain, Eleftherotypia and Eleftheros Typos in Greece, and many others.

Mr. Athanasakos began his teaching career at the Athens Conservatory at the age of 16 as part of his graduation requirements, Regular lecture-demonstrations and master classes followed around Europe and the USA including Pierce College and American College of Greece-Deree and Studio Academie des Beaux Arts in Paris. After coaching at Universität der Kunste Berlin as collaborative pianist, Mr. Athanasakos has returned to his favorite vocation of coaching professional musicians of different fields as well as aspiring professional pianists.

Konstantinos Athanasakos is an avid chess player, basketball player and non-cooperative game tactics aficionado. His favorite book has always been 'Game Theory' by J. Nash and his favorite past-time is discussing various strategic models and their application in competitive sports, politics and social development.

A former passionate collector of vintage watches, passionate about the Art of handcrafted watchmaking and an expert advisor on mechanical watch auctions as an investment, Mr. Athanasakos has been invited to the horology institute of Pforzheim Germany as a scholarship fellow, something he hopes to accept in the near future.
