Noel Gallagher has performed new song ‘Rattling Rose’ live for the first time. Check it out below.
After the former Oasis turned High Flying Birds man dropped his first taster of new material with the release of new single ‘Black Star Dancing‘ last week, Gallagher’s current UK tour has seen him air another new song.
‘Rattling Rose’ received its premiere at the Edinburgh Playhouse earlier this week and was played again last night at Venue Cymru in Llandudno. Leaning heavily on the acoustic guitar, backing vocals and Americana rhythms, the track features big band elements and suggests a further sonic departure on his upcoming run of EPs.
“I’ve got three EPs coming out this year – three four-track EPs,” Gallagher revealed last week, adding that the second EP will be “a very Mancunian-sounding record”.
He said: “I can see guys in anoraks, nodding their heads moodily to it,while checking out each other’s Adidas trainers, [saying] ‘Where you got those from?’”
Describing his ‘Black Star Dancing’, Noel said: “It manages to combine the influences of David Bowie, INXS, U2, Queen, Indeep AND ZZ Top FFS!
“I might have been watching too much Top Of The Pops recently … anyway, it’s ‘dope’ … not my words, but the words of Nile Rodgers who literally danced in the studio when he heard it!”
Last year, Noel teased that he may in fact have two albums’ worth of new material due for release. Speaking to NME, he suggested that some of his new material sounded like ‘The Police meets The Cure‘. Back in October, he said that his new material would sound like “’70s disco” and “like the beginning of the world”.
Noel Gallagher And The High Flying Birds’ tour continues at The Palladium in London tonight (May 9) before calling at the Bonus Arena in Hull on May 11.
