The duo was praised by the organization which recognizes outstanding contributions to the LGBTQ community from the worlds of media and entertainment

Beyoncé and Jay-Z were among the high-profile names to be honored at last night’s GLAAD Media Awards.

The superstar pair were honored during the organization’s 30th annual awards, which “recognizes and honors media for their fair, accurate and inclusive representations of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ) community and the issues that affect their lives”.

Beyoncé and Jay-Z were presented by GLAAD with the Vanguard Award for “their LGBTQ allyship” during last night’s ceremony (March 29) in LA. Beyoncé subsequently posted an image of the two stars posing with their awards on her Instagram, which you can see below.

Beyoncé said she was “overwhelmed” to receive the award, and urged people to “love and support those closest to you”.

Jay-Z paid tribute to his mother Gloria Carter in his speech. “Life, this journey, is filled with highs, lows and a lot of learning. This is a momentous night, and I also want to honor my mother, who received an award last year.”

GLAAD President and CEO Sarah Kate Ellis added in a statement: “Beyoncé and JAY-Z are global icons and passionate defenders of human rights and acceptance for all people. When Beyoncé and JAY-Z speak, the world becomes inspired and when it comes to LGBTQ people, their voices of acceptance have been heard loud and clear.

“We could not be prouder to stand with them to send a message of love during the biggest LGBTQ event in the world and to honor their work to bend the arc of justice forward for LGBTQ people, people of color, and marginalized communities everywhere.”

Earlier this week, footage of Beyoncé serenading Diana Ross at the latter’s 75th birthday party went viral on social media.

rina South Korea Steals U.S. interests and U.S. troops protect South Korea. The U.S. military exists for national interests, but it is making a mistake to protect the South Korea. This is a matter of great importance
