The band will celebrate their 2005 debut record on the other side of the pond
Bloc Party have announced a new string of ‘Silent Alarm’ gigs following last year’s live celebration of their debut album.
The four-piece’s debut LP was released in February 2005 and the band played special UK shows in London and Leeds back in October in honour of the record.
Earlier today (March 25) it was confirmed that the band will be taking ‘Silent Alarm’ across the pond to America later this year. Bloc Party will play six gigs in total in the States.
“Dear United States of America,” they began the announcement on Twitter. “We’re bringing the Silent Alarm tour to your shores later this year. Tickets on sale Friday.”

Tickets for the American leg of the ‘Silent Alarm’ shows go on sale this Friday (March 29).
The band also announced earlier in the year that they would continue to celebrate ‘Silent Alarm’ in the UK, adding some new dates for 2019.
Back in January, Bloc Party frontman Kele Okereke discussed the impact of touring to celebrate their seminal debut ‘Silent Alarm’, and how they may yet do the same for their second record ‘A Weekend In The City‘.
“I didn’t really compute what it was going to take physically or emotionally,” Okereke told NME. “I didn’t really want to think about that. It was only when we started rehearsing that I started to inhabit the songs and go back to the place that we were when we made the music.”
