By order of the Peaky Blinders...
A Peaky Blinders video game is in the works and set for release in 2020, developers have confirmed.
With Peaky Blinders season five wrapped and set for release later this year as well as talk of a movie, fans now have another thing to look forward to from the Shelby clan.
It’s been announced that Endemol has partnered with Curve Digital and FuturLab to create “narrative action game inspired by the critically acclaimed, epic gangster drama” for console and PC.
Developers said that it would be led by “a highly innovative, story-driven design” enabling players to control “all of their favorite characters” as well as locations from the series.
“In Curve and FuturLab we have great partners who will deliver a high-end game which can be enjoyed by fans of the series and gamers alike,” said Endemol director Anil Mistry. “The unique world created by the Peaky Blinders series lends itself incredibly well to this style of gaming, and players can look forward to an authentic, original and immersive game experience.”
Curve Digital CEO Dominic Wheatley added: “We are thrilled to be working with Endemol Shine Group on this unique IP. Peaky Blinders is at the top of my list of favorite TV shows and the characters and stories will now be transformed into an interactive experience. Can’t wait.”
Peaky Blinders season five has wrapped filming and is now in post-production, with the team behind the series continuing to show first-look photos at new and returning characters. The show has also been confirmed for a further two series after the next.
Producer Caryn Mandabach has also confirmed that not only was a movie in the works, but also a musical.
“It’s going great, bumping along,” she told Deadline. “It’s not going to happen tomorrow, but we’re actively meeting about it and having a blast. You can only imagine those meetings are real fun.
“Steve [Knight, writer] said he’d turn in the treatment of what would happen in February, so we have that to look forward to. I have no info further about the movie, I can only say we have continued support from extraordinary artistic forces.”
