Ralph Breaks the Internet is out digitally Feb. 12 and on Blu-ray Feb. 26.
One of the undersung subplots of November’s Ralph Breaks the Internet lives on in a new deleted animatic fresh off the film’s upcoming Disney Animation home release.
The sequel to 2012’s Wreck-It Ralph finds Ralph’s friendly rival Fix-It Felix (Jack McBrayer) and military commander Calhoun (Jane Lynch) now married and living together in Felix’s apartment in Niceland. Calhoun’s adjustment to normal suburban life was once a plot point in and of itself for the character (as revealed in The Art of Ralph Breaks the Internet) but what did make it into the finished film was the couple’s unexpected guardianship of the displaced tween racers of Sugar Rush.
All dozen-and-change sugarholic speedsters find a home with Felix and Calhoun after their racing game gets unplugged, sending Ralph and Vanellope to the Internet in search of the game’s missing part—a mission which Felix and Calhoun desperately pray is completed swiftly.
Only a few scenes in the final movie show how Felix and Calhoun managed to reign in the overly-glucosed kids in the meantime, but this deleted animatic adds a little more context to how the couple tackled the struggles of parenting in Niceland while Ralph and Vanellope went site-hopping across the wild, wild Web.
