Sleater-Kinney have revealed that they have been working on new music with St. Vincent.

Speaking to NME for a Big Read last year, Annie Clark revealed that before the next St. Vincent album she’d be “producing a couple of records” as well as working on her film adaptation of A Picture Of Dorian Gray.

Now, Sleater-Kinney have confirmed that they are one of the bands by sharing a photo of themselves with Clark behind the controls in the studio. 

This comes after St. Vincent covered Sleater-Kinney’s ‘Modern Girl’ last year, having previously collaborated with Carrie Brownstein in a series of comedy clips that featured Clark fielding common interview questions to promote the acclaimed ‘MASSEDUCTION‘. 

The promo shorts were scripted by Brownstein and featured questions like “What is it like to perform in high heels?” and “Are St Vincent and Annie Clark the same person?”.

Punk icons Sleater-Kinney released their last album ‘No Cities To Love’ in 2015, their first in a decade.

In NME‘s 9/10 review, we said that the album “reeked of confidence” and was “driven by the same fundamental necessity” that they’d always had. 

Speaking to NME about her next record, St Vincent said that she plans to go “just, really heavy. Go really hard.”

“I don’t know what the next thing is, she continued. “I always have really rad ideas like, ‘Oh, it’s going to be Skinny Puppy meets Dillinger Escape Plan!’ But you just get in there and the music tells you what it wants to be.”
