The Disney-founded park will open next summer

Disney have shared a new behind-the-scenes video of the Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, which reveals more details about the forthcoming theme park.

In the video, Walt Disney Imagineering’s Creative Executive Scott Trowbridge said visitors would be able to “give themselves over to the story and play with us in the world of Star Wars.”

The Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run ride will allow fans to pilot the iconic ship, or act as its gunners or flights engineers. Trowbridge explained the Rise Of The Resistance ride “invites you to be a recruit of the resistance, to stand up against the First Order, and you even come face-to-face with Kylo Ren. You make it through that, you make it back to the planet, you are going to be a hero of the resistance and celebrated throughout the land.”

He added the latter ride was the “most epic attraction we’ve ever built.” You can watch the behind-the-scenes video below.

Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge will open at Disneyland in Anaheim, California in summer 2019, while it will follow at DisneyWorld in Orlando, Florida in autumn 2019.

Meanwhile, Natalie Portman recently shot down rumors she is due to return to the Star Wars franchise for the upcoming Episode IX. When told there was speculation she could appear in the iconic series again, she replied: “Oh really? I don’t know anything about that. I’m guessing that’s not true because I don’t know about it yet.”

Some fans believe that Portman’s prequel character Padmé Amidala could feature in the next film because it’s expected to conclude the Skywalker Saga. Padmé is Luke Skywalker’s mother.
