The third film remains postponed.
A select few people have reportedly seen the script for Guardians Of The Galaxy 3, and it looks like things are getting seriously emotional.
The third big screen adventure for Star Lord and friends remains in limbo after Disney confirmed they were putting the project on ice. This came after director James Gunn was controversially sacked earlier this year when a right wing US pundit unearthed a series of contentious tweets that he had posted in the past.
But despite the overwhelming uncertainty over the project, there’s good indications that it could match the lofty standards of the first two films.
Posting on Twitter, SlashFilm’s Peter Sciretta cryptically wrote: “If I had somehow talked to two separate people, who somehow read James Gunn’s Guardians 3 script, and both told me that it made them cry, I probably wouldn’t be able to say any more.”
His comments came only days after Karen Gillan, who portrays Nebula, teased that she too had seen an early script.
Speaking to People Magazine, Gillan explained: “Our director won’t be with us any longer but we are excited to continue the Guardians of the Galaxy story and keep delivering to the fans. That’s the most important thing.
“I don’t have any details as to when [the next Guardians film will come out] but there’s a script in existence.”
When pushed on the details of the script, she replied: “I may have had a little teeny peek, but I can’t say anything.”
In the wake of Gunn’s dismissal in July, Gillen joined co-stars Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista and Bradley Cooper in voicing their support for the director.
