I will find you, and I will eat your apples

Liam Neeson has said that he was recognized by a horse in his latest movie, after the pair worked together on one of the actor’s previous projects.

The Oscar-winning screen icon claims that the horse he worked with on the set of new Coen Brothers film The Ballad of Buster Scruggs was aware that they’d worked together before.

The horse reportedly “pawed the ground” when he spotted Neeson on set for the first time.

“I play a traveling impresario. We filmed in New Mexico. The odd thing is the horse who pulls my wagon knew me”, the actor told Page Six at the New York Film Festival. “You won’t believe it. I’m saying this horse knew me. He actually remembered me from another Western we made a while back.”

But why did the horse retain such a special affection for Neeson? Treats, apparently.

“I love animals,” he explained. “When we worked together before I took special care of him. I fed him treats. Gave him apples.”

Although Neeson neglected to mention the film where they first met, it’s thought that it could be 2014 cowboy pastiche A Million Ways to Die in the West – which saw Neeson star as villain Clinch Leatherwood.

Meanwhile, The Ballad of Buster Scruggs will arrive on Netflix on November 16. The anthology film offers six different short tales  from America’s wild frontier. Along with Neeson, it stars the likes of Tom Waits and Brendan O’Neill.
